SHOPPED OUT...

Hi prim friends! Finally back from our trip and putting everything out at the shop. What a wild 4 days I've had! I met my friend Connie in Waynesville on Thursday morning and we never stopped until we left on Sunday morning. We just had the best time, but I have to say that I was DONE shopping by Saturday night! You better grab a glass of iced tea and settle in, because I have LOTS of pictures to show you. We saw these concrete pumpkins in Waynesville and they were SO neat. Our Terri is going to try to make some for the shop.

Then we went right to Jailhouse Primitives to see our friend Melissa. What a treat! We shopped in her 75% off sale, visited for a little bit, and she gave us a tour of her home. It is absolutely a prim-lovers dream come true. Thank you for sharing Melissa, what a great time. Her arbor was just the best, made from old french doors and shutters.

Then on to Washington Court House, Ohio to North Shore Primitives. All I can say is "WOW!" Just gorgeous prims.

After we left the shop, we stopped at the outlets and did a little shopping for ourselves. THEN back to Waynesville.

Friday morning we got up and hit it for Columbus to the Heritage show. what great things we found there! (Of course I have to keep some of the goodies for me.) After the show we went to the warehouse sale at Raghu and then to Springfield, Ohio to the Country Gathering show. There were wonderful prims there - but the prices were sky high.

Saturday morning we headed back to Columbus to the Offinger show and bought LOTS more. Do you think Connie looks like she's had enough shopping? Then back to Waynesville to do the town and check out all the shops there.

We spent Saturday night drawing patterns, copying each other's verses for stitcheries and just gabbing and relaxing. Sunday morning came all too soon and we were both off to Michigan and Tennessee. Thank you Connie for the bestest weekend!

While I was gone, Terri went SHOPPING too! We got LOTS of new antiques for the shop and we had to have our hubbies help move the furniture for us. When I went into the shop this morning, I couldn't even walk through it was so full. Thank goodness Debbie and Bonnie came to help most of the day and then Terri brought more! Hope you enjoy some of our new goodies.

STILL NO LUCK...

Well friends, I've tried to refresh, log off the computer, add names to my "reading list" and nothing has seemed to work. I'm going to have to set down and try to take some time with this when I get back from Ohio. SOOO, if you don't have any comments from me for awhile, you'll know I'm still having some problems.
Can't wait until tomorrow morning! I'm leaving EARLY for Ohio and I'll be back on Sunday afternoon. It is going to be so much fun to spend time with Connie and do a lot of exploring between trade shows. We hope to make the Country Gathering show in Springfield on Friday night. PLUS it will be great to have some new goodies for the shop.
Sunday afternoon is the "Big Birthday Blowout" for our grandson Jack. He is turning 5 and that's what he's calling his party. I wouldn't miss it for the world! They are inviting everyone to bring their swimming suits and that little kid can swim like a fish.
Last night I took my dad out to the courtyard and brought him some desert. We got laughing so hard. There were these little bugs (like nats) that kept biting us, so we had to really hurry to get back inside. He was carrying out drinks on his lap and I was pushing that wheelchair like crazy!
Tonight is car cruise night in Holly and they expect LOTS of cars. Last week there were about 180 and they think there will be more this week. Saturday is the BIG Woodward Dream Cruise in Detroit and Dick is going to take Gannon. We have taken him for a couple years now and he LOVES it. It is a huge event and people line Woodward Ave. holding up signs that say things like "Light 'EM UP" or "Burn 'Em". People come from all over the USA to drive in this cruise. It is quite an event.
For you local gals, I want you to know that the shop will be open while I'm gone. I have a couple friends filling in for me, so come on in!

OH MY GOSH!!! I got home from the shop today and went right in to see what you gals had to post today and my reading list is GONE! It says I have no one listed!!! Have any of you had this problem? Do I have to start over??? I was just devastated! Guess I'll have to start adding you all again unless any of you know how to take care of this problem. Darn!!! Thanks.

SUMMER IS HERE...

Happy HOT Sunday afternoon! Wow, we woke up this morning and couldn't see out of most of our windows, they were so steamed up with humidity! The temps are in the mid-90's today and the humidity is terrible. Thank goodness for air conditioning! I went into the shop for a few hours, but the town was just dead today - they must all be at the beach! Just had to share my newest addition! We got this Johnston Benchworks sofa in today and it is brand new. One of my good customers sat on it two times and it didn't work in her house! It still has the tags on it and it's beautiful. I am asking $1,195.00. What a savings compared to a newly ordered sofa! It is a navy mini-print with TINY red and green "flowers" on it.

Just a reminder that as the holidays get closer, you might want to get your order in for your custom house. Our artist gets busy when it gets closer to Christmas. Her work is just incredible!

I found the best deal this weekend! I got an old beadboard cupboard that was setting out in someone's yard for $15.00! It needs a little tlc, but it is going to make the greatest island at our new "home"! Can't wait to start working on it. I wanted something really prim to divide the kitchen area from the rest of the living area and this will be perfect. I want my hubby to put a new top on it so we can use it for a buffet for holidays and other get-togethers. I just hate to mess with real antiques and I won't feel bad about this one at all. I'll take pictures soon.

Tomorrow I am going to my mom's to start boxing everything we sorted for her garage sale. The contractors are going to start demolition this week, so we've got to be ready.

Do any of you gardeners out there know about transplanting bittersweet? I have the best plants going and I want to take them with me. Should I wait until we cut it back this fall and then transplant it? HELP!!! Please!!!

FRIDAY'S REFLECTIONS...

Good morning to all of you great gals. TGIF! This weekend is supposed to be a HOT one here in Michigan - into the 90's by Sunday and Monday. Whew! Everyone has wished for summer, but I can't hardly stand this kind of heat. We talked about going to the cottage this weekend, but I am opting for the air conditioning!
I had a great evening with Dad last night. He loves nachos, so I stopped and picked one up, along with McDonald apple pies and ice tea and we went out to the courtyard at the nursing home and had a picnic. The courtyard is beautiful with so many varieties of flowers. It has a covered picnic area with comfy tables and chairs. It even has a double swing with a canopy that you can put the wheelchair on one side! We just talked and talked. I am so lucky to have the greatest dad in the world. I SOO wish I could just bring him home! All of the nurses and aides tell me he is their favorite and they "fight" to get to work with him! (No big surprise to me!)
Our new "home" will be in the beginning stages next week. The contractors are going to demo the existing walls and start with the redo. I'm TRYING to look at the bright side and make this an adventure. Thank goodness there are lots of windows and a "walk-out" with a patio. We bought new cupboards, but I opted for unfinished ones that I can paint and prim up. I think I'm going to use old spools for the knobs! I also want to incorporate my old black hoosier and small hanging pie safe into the kitchen. I've been collecting some old shutters and doors to use too, might as well make it prim, prim, prim! It should be ready for paint and carpet in about a month.
Mom and Dad have been married for 63 years, so you can imagine how much stuff we are hauling out of the downstairs! My daughter, Ashley, is going to run the garage sale for her - I just can't take off TOO many days from the shop.
As strange as this sounds, I have ended up having some real quality time with both Dad and Mom through this whole ordeal. It kind of forces you to look at what's really important in your life, and nothing is more important than family. Dad and I had a long talk about that last night.
Am I going to miss my house? OH YES!!! But, it's still just a house and we will make a HOME wherever we may be. (There's always storage units for rent!)
Well, today is Abbey's last day at day camp. She has had a ball! Chad and Kim give her a week at camp for Christmas each year and she just loves it. She can't wait until she's old enough for the horse camp!
Funny Abbey story - the other night my husband asked her if she prayed and she said, "Oh yes, Papa, I pray to Santa and the Tooth Fairy all the time!" He had the hardest time keeping a straight face! (See what you have to look forward to Linda!)
I'm getting so excited to meet my friend Connie in Ohio next week! We only get to see each other a couple times a year since she moved to Tennessee and we ALWAYS have so much fun! She is going to the trade shows with me and we hope to look up Melissa from Jailhouse Primitives while we are down there. By the way girls, Melissa is having her last 50% off weekend this weekend before her shop closes it's doors. She is located in Germantown, Ohio. Do any of you know of any great prim shops around the Waynesville to Columbus area? We are always on the lookout and it's so much fun to find something new. I'd appreciate any input you could give us!

GOOD NEWS DAY...

Well, it's Wednesday night and we had our weekly car cruise. Someone said there were about 200 cars in town tonight - and it was packed! The Detroit Woodward Dream Cruise is coming soon, so I'm sure a lot of car buffs are warming up.
Good news, Jane from Zanie Janie's Coffee got the key next door and is opening her coffee shop! What a great match for our shop. I am going to furnish the tables, chairs, cupboards and wall decor and it will all be for sale! We are going to open the French doors between our shops so people can browse and go have a great cup of coffee. She will have a roaster in her shop and also sell the coffee by the bag. She came in tonight and gave out free samples in my shop and got a great reception by the crowd.
More good news, we are getting an old-fashioned candy store two doors down. The new people are busy working like crazy to be open by the end of August! This could be dangerous with a candy store AND a great ice cream shop!
Now on to more Halloween/fall goods that I have in the shop. I got a call from Terry today and she is bringing in lots more! Hooray!!! I also have been sewing like crazy again to add more dolls.
