BONNIE'S GARDEN TOUR...

Oh yes, summer is finally here! Another beautiful day in Michigan! HOORAY!! Do you gals remember the farm tour back in about March of my friend Bonnie's home? Well, I thought you might like to see some of her gardens while they are in full bloom. She does such a beautiful job that I just had to share! This old Sears wagon sits at the entrance of the driveway as you come down the old dirt country road.

What a cozy little front porch! I was with her when she found the old bike at a garage sale a few years ago.

I just love the old stick trellis, we each bought one of those a few years ago too!

Oh yes, does anything say summer more than an old swing??? This was Bonnie's when she was a little girl back home in Illinois.

The old chick feeder and grinding wheel are great touches. The picture doesn't do the Shasta Daiseys justice though.

The clematis is gorgeous! It climbs both sides of the deck that surrounds their pool.

Can you see the old metal grate thing hiding in the corner?

These lilies sure add a vibrant color to the corner of their house.

Bonnie's husband built this chimney for their fireplace many years ago and incorporated the old school bell.

Another beautiful garden on the back of the house. They found all of the rocks on their farm.

The lavender is in full swing, just the best fragrance!

Have you ever seen this wooly, creeping thyme? It's amazing.

Plants and flowers everywhere!!! That wraps up our tour of Bonnie's wonderful yard and gardens. It is such a peaceful little piece of heaven - hope you enjoyed your tour.

Remember the town cat? She had 4 baby kittens 3 weeks ago. Abbey came into the shop today and we went down to the shop where she had them. They are SOOO cute and Abbey hated to leave them there!

I spent most of the day sewing and sewing more Halloween dolls. I'm really getting the bug to get them out! Now it's time to go grubby them up and put 'em in the oven!

NEW BLOGGING FRIENDS...

Happy Wednesday evening prim friends. What a great day!!! Debbie came out and spent the day with me, had lunch, helped stuff dolls, moved some things around and just spent time catching up. THEN Merrie from Where The Black Birds Sing blog and her friend Sue came to shop. It was so great to meet them both and we had lots of fun. Me and Merrie in the back and Sue in front. Merrie bought the sign we are holding plus a great old harvest table. Sue got a set of chairs, a Hoosier and some smalls. Hope they come back soon, such sweet gals!

New wooden box/trunk. So cute! Can't wait to use it for our fall displays - if it's not sold. $39.95

Debbie came up with the BEST idea! Remember those "caps" I have for the columns. We put them around the shop as bases under different things. I can just see them under a big pillar candle! One already sold today. (Great idea Debbie!)

Tonight was car cruise night in town. The D.J. and judges are right across the street from the shop so I get to hear all the great oldies!

The town was packed with cars tonight and tons of people as the evening went on.

I thought this was so cute - check out the little trailer!

This car belongs to my son's friend. He is a veterinarian that makes house calls and uses this car for that! It even has 4-wheel drive for the Michigan winters.

All in all it was a great day. I did a lot of business, my hubby came after work and we went for a burger, and people were actually thanking me for staying open for cruise night (a lot of shops close). Lots of furniture will be gone soon - so much is in layaway - and you won't believe the new look we are planning and LOTS of new merchandise.

MORE GOODIES...

Good evening ladies. Got a few new things in today that I thought I would share with you. Aggie the angel is a black doll with antique spoon wings. Her mouth is a rusty pin and her pocket reads "I shant go to town today, my hollyhocks are blooming" Her pocket is filled with Sweet Annie. $39.95

Hazel is another "tablespoon" angel and her little pack is filled with Sweet Annie and some drieds. She has an old spool around her neck and flax hair. $39.95

Cora's Crow is a black doll with bed spring hair, a rusty heart, drieds in her hand, button card mouth, and a needle felted crow. She is wearing her old dirty socks and no shoes. $39.95

Just got these pots in and they flew out of the shop. The front is a chalkboard and it comes with a piece of chalk. Wouldn't this be adorable filled for a Christmas gift? $12.95

Dick and I made another antique run yesterday and found some real treasures! This old planter would be so gardeny with a flower planted inside. $29.95

This little aqua doll chair is adorable. Just right for a small prim doll. $14.95

This BIG basket is really an oldie, but in really good condition. It has handles on both sides and a lid. $34.95 The old green, rusty step stool is a really garden gem! $19.95

LOVE this OLD basket. It is quite heavy and so unique. $39.95

These old columns came from a farmhouse in Holly from about the turn of the century. They are so great - and heavy. Wouldn't they be great in a garden with a big birdhouse on top? $49.95 each

These are all different "caps" for the columns, but they would look great with a pot of flowers setting on them. $14.95-16.95 each

That's the line-up for today. We will be getting more in almost daily for awhile, including cupboards, tables, smalls and handmades. Keep watching for more! Tomorrow our Terri is bringing in another LOAD! Can't wait to see the angels she made from old spindles and moldings! She has been working on Halloween goodies like crazy - only one more month until we put it all out!

Tonight we are having my mom and Abbey over for a fish fry. My husband (Papa) took Abbey fishing last night and they caught a bunch! YUM! Nothing quite like pan-fried fresh fish, fried potatoes and corn on the cob!

QUIET MONDAY...

Good morning blogland. Hope all of you had a wonderful July 4th! We had a relaxing morning and then headed to the nursing home for a picnic with my dad. This was the first time he was able to see his new great-granddaughter - Lucy. Nothing in the world has meant more to my dad than being a grandfather and great-grandfather, he has always just been the best. He was excited to see Lucy, but I'm just not sure how much he really understood. It saddens me so very much.

Aunt Kim (a/k/a Bow) got her snuggles in too. Lucy was all dressed in red, white and blue for the holiday.

Dad is always so glad to see Mom. They have been married for 63 years and "dated" for 5 years before that - a real lifetime.

Proud mommy - Ashley - is so happy. Two wonderful little girls.

Abbey and I had to put flowers behind our ears to celebrate the holiday.

Later in the evening, Chad's family and Ashley's family came over to go to the fireworks. Holly has a beach just about 3 blocks from us and everyone walked down to watch the display. Abbey was SO excited! I stayed home with Ashley and Lucy, but we could see a lot of the "show" from our front porch. I loved being able to just hold and rock out little Lucy, it was one of the first times I didn't feel like I had to "share". It ended up being a very nice day.

I opened the shop yesterday and we had quite a bit of business. Deb (The Thread Gatherer) came up and another gal from Medina, Ohio that has a shop called Gatherings.

Things got a little exciting for a few minutes. There was a poor dog running lose on the main street of town, without a collar, and cars were all stopping so it could cross the street. It came right over and went into my shop and wanted to be near me. I was a little nervous, she was a Pit Bull, but she was very gentle. Still... A store owner from across the street came to get her and she was going to take her home, she said it was the second time they saw her running the streets.

Okay shoppers, be watching - we're going to be getting LOTS of new goodies in the shop very soon. In addition, the beginnings of our fall goodies will be coming out of hiding by the beginning of August. I've been sewing dolls and Terri has been working on all kinds of fall and Halloween - it will be wonderful! Wait until you see some of the unique things she has been making!

The shop is closed today, Dick went to work, and I'm going to try to cram in as much sewing as I can! Have a great day and we'll talk soon.

HAPPY HOLIDAY...

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY EVERYONE! Have a great day, enjoy the fireworks, but, most of all, be safe!
This morning is just kind of relaxing - for a change - and this afternoon we are going to have a picnic with my dad at the nursing home. We are so looking forward to spending some time outside with him and he will be able to see Lucy for the first time. Tonight our family is going to walk down to the Holly Beach (about 3 blocks) and watch the fireworks. It's kind of a family tradition that Chad and Kim always come home for, along with Ashley's family. Poor Ashley won't be able to go tonight, Lucy is just too darn little, but Abbey is really excited! Seems funny to get up on a Saturday morning and not open the shop! We have two old pie safes in our living room and I thought I would share the displays on the top of them. Can you tell I love old bobbins and bobbin lights?

I also love tin molds. These are reproductions, but I love them anyway! Stitcheries are another favorite.

We bought this antique piece from the people that sold us the house almost 20 years ago. It says it all!

I had such a great surprise at the shop yesterday! Terri (Chocolates For Breakfast, Stitching For Lunch) came to shop and brought Lucy the most darling little book and card! Thank you so much Terri - it was so very thoughtful!

We have a sale going on at the shop too. Included are: all patriotic - 35% off, all stitcheries - 30% off, dolls - 20% off, and lots of the garden goodies are marked down. If you get a chance come in and save!

Guess I'm going to go RELAX for a little bit and enjoy some time off!
