BLISTERING HOT...
Sorry this post doesn't have any pictures, but I just wanted to pop in and let everyone know that we got the "all clear" on Dick's malinoma. Prayers do get answered. Now we just have to wait to get into the plastic surgeon. Thank you all for your concern, it means the world to us.
Isn't this weather something else??? I went outside of the shop today and when I hit the heat, my eyes just started stinging and watering. Unreal! Sounds like it's going to be with us for awhile. Guess it's better than freezing though.
For any of you that live close by, we have put almost all of the cupboards in the shop on sale. Making room for new furniture and getting things ready to start thinking about FALL! Won't be long.
Oh, and our computer is really acting up! If you don't hear from us for a few days, we'll be back soon. Guess it's time to break down and get a new one.
Have a great holiday weekend! Until next time...

BEAUTIFUL SUNDAY...
What a beautiful Sunday afternoon in the village of Holly. Our neighboring merchant, John Shoemaker organized a "group out" in town with the Pierce Arrow Car Club and it was amazing. These cars were built from 1901 to 1935 in New York state. The great depression was the demise of these beauties as the company had no "cheaper" model. They were known as a very high-end hand-made car. The bodies were made of cast aluminum and the details were incredible. They were known as the American version of the Rolls Royce. What a treat it was to see so many of these beautiful automobiles in person. The club members came from as far away as California, Florida, Minnesota and Pennsylvania and were all just as sweet as could be. Thank you John for such an enjoyable afternoon.
The details of these cars were absolutely amazing!
We would also like to introduce Jemma. She is a Briard and her mom brings her into town on Sundays to get her "socialized" and used to noise and people. Be watching for her in either the Eukanuba or West Minster dog shows! Good luck Jemma!
It was just a great day in Holly! Today we are taking a day off and going for a ride and just spending time together.
Until next time...

SYDNEY'S DANCE RECITAL...
Good Saturday morning friends! First of all I'd like to thank everyone for the support you have shown for Dick. We are done with round two and have to wait 5-7 days to see if he has to go back again. We are being positive though and hopefully yesterday was the last day of surgery until the plastic surgeon gets involved. Your beautiful comments have meant the world to both of us!
Last night we had such a great time! We took my mom and her friend to our granddaughter's (Sydney - age 4) dance recital. We just stayed for the first half, so we could get Dick home after such a long day. Son Rich and his wife Val have done such a great job with their children. Sydney is just a little "princess" and it was so much fun to watch her.
Aren't the little ones just a hoot? Our little ballerina is the last one on the left.
Sydney decided to kind of "do her own thing" during her tap dance. I just couldn't get enough!
I was so glad "great-grandma" got to come too. She loves her family so much and the little ones just make her day.
I was so glad that Val brought her out so we could see her at intermission before we had to leave to come home. It was a wonderful night and we were so proud of our little dolly. Good job Sydney!
It was great to get home too, such a long day! We had to be in Ann Arbor at 7:30 yesterday morning for Dick's surgery, so we were ready to hit the bed.
Today's a new day and we are ready to rock and roll again. Come on in and see us if you're in the area!
Until next time...

GREAT DAY AT HOLLY HILLS PRIMITIVES...
What a great day this turned out to be! First of all, I had a phone call from Robin at Millstone Mercantile and we got to catch up on lots of things. Sounds like she is doing some great shows this summer. One of these days I hope we get a chance to meet in person. THEN two ladies walked into the shop and I knew right away that one of them was our own Pam (Basketsnprims) and we had so much fun! She was one of the very first gals I ever blogged with almost 4 years ago and FINALLY we got to meet. This was just the surprise that I needed. Her friend Janet was with her and is such a nice gal. It felt like I had known Pam for years and I can't wait to get together again SOON. Janet did some shopping in town for a beautiful new outfit. We got to spend quite a bit of time together, but the afternoon flew by. Luckily, we are planning on meeting again when we go up to the Little House. Janet went home with a great outfit for her reunion and Pam left with some new prims to putz with. Thank you for surprising me, Pam, it was just what the doctor ordered.
Tonight Dick and I had a good visit with Gannon, but it sure was hard to walk away and come home. Can't wait until he is here with us again.
Tomorrow morning it's off to U of M Hospital for round two of this awful malinoma surgery. We sure will be glad when they finally tell us that they got it all and Dick can rest easy again. I just know it will all turn out okay. Our dear friend Peggy will be watching the shop until we can get back home. Guess I'm going to get some sleep since we have to leave at 6:15 in the morning. Hope you all have a great Friday!
Until next time...

SUMMER IS HERE...
WHEW!!! Can you believe this weather? We were in the 90's today and it was so humid. I always have a little table and chairs in front of the shop to sit on, but it was too hot to even go out there today. A little birdie told me is going to cool down a little starting tomorrow - thank goodness! I've been adding lots of new finds on our selling blog http://hollyhillsprimwares.blogspot.com/ and I wanted to share a couple other things on here. I'm just crazy about these "smashed" old cans on boards with rusty wire. The cans are filled with real ground cover and are adorable!
A lot of you have met our Gannon. Well, he went to work and built two bird baths as a contribution to the shop. They both have old pans on top for the birds to bathe in and are as cute as can be. One is green and the other is a dark red. By the way, hope you all will say a little prayer for our guy, he is back in the hospital. Darn it!
We also have an assortment of darling bears that Peggy brought over to us. These are great little guys from Wren In The Willow!
Are you looking for the perfect gift for a bridal shower, graduation or wedding? These handmade "shoes" are the cutest gift boxes ever! They are made by Bonnie and would be perfect to hold a gift certificate, jewelry, or other small gift.
I would like to thank all of you that have sent prayers our way for Dick. Hopefully they can get that darn cancer when we go back on Friday. We're just going to stay positive!
Hope you all have a great day tomorrow and we'll talk again soon.
Until next time...
MAKE DO SETTLE BENCH
Good morning prim pals! We've been so busy creating that the blog just slipped away for a few days. I am so excited to share our newest offering to you! Our handmade make-do settle bench just snuck into the shop this morning. The base is made from two old antique chairs and the top is covered in grungy natural fabric.
I didn't even want to take it to the shop, I have the perfect place for it right here! But... Right now it's more important to offer our customers some great prims for summer decorating.
Also, I just wanted to give you a little update on Dick. We have go back to U of M hospital on Friday for round two of this nasty malanoma. Keep him in your prayers - please. Hope they can get it all this time.
Have a great day! Until next time...

END OF THE WEEK...
What a fun morning we had here at Holly Hills Primitives! Our Little House neighbors, Glen and Kelly, along with sons Austin and Colby, came to the shop for the first time to pick up their table and benches built by Dick. Of course Kelly found some other goodies to load into the truck too! We all had coffee and other yummy drinks from Zanie Janie and sat outside the shop and had a visit. We feel so honored that one of Dick's pieces will be next door to our Little House! Can't wait for them to come down again and maybe stay a little longer.
After work we went down and had a nice visit with Gannon and can't wait to go back to see him on Monday.
We went out to dinner and had wonderful Chinese!
On the way home we stopped to see Abbey and Lucy. They had to show us the opossum they caught in the live trap before they took it out to let it go.
Dick is feeling better tonight after his surgery yesterday and we're ready to have a relaxing day at home tomorrow.
We're ready to get creative Monday and Tuesday to have lots more goodies ready for the shop by next Wednesday.
I listed lots more wares on the selling blog tonight. Go to http://hollyhillsprimwares.blogspot.com/ and take a peek.
Hope you all have a wonderful Father's Day tomorrow! Until next time...

WILD WEEK...
Hi there friends! Sorry this post is "pictureless", but you can go on over to the selling blog at http://hollyhillsprimwares.blogspot.com/ and see all kinds of new prim goodies that were just added a few minutes ago.
Whew! What a few days. Yesterday was ALMOST comical. We went to the hospital to visit Gannon (an hour from home) and I was so glad to see him. When we got home, we were so tired, just ready to put on some p.j.'s and take a break. Then the phone rang and Ashley told us she was on the way to the nearby hospital because she thought Abbey broke her arm. SO, the clothes went back on and off we went again. Got home about midnight. Went back to visit Gannon tonight and now it's almost time to try the p.j.'s again! The good news was that Abbey did not break her arm.
Tomorrow we're off to UofM hospital for Dick to have a malinoma spot taken from his face. Thank goodness for our Sharon and Bonnie who are always willing to fill in when we can't be at the shop. Boy, are we ever saying a lot of prayers lately!
My friend Connie went home yesterday and I miss her already. Hope I get a chance to get to Tennessee later in the year.
Just wanted to let you know that the shop will be closed this Sunday for Father's Day. Everyone wants to have a chance to spend some quality time with the "Dad's" in the family. This is my first year without my own Dad and I miss him so much.
Hope you are all having a great week and have fun plans for the weekend.
NOW I'm going for the p.j.'s.
Until next time...

NEW PRIMS ON SELLING BLOG...
Good evening prim pals! Just wanted to pop in and let you know that I have added several new prim goodies to our selling blog and will be adding lots more throughout the week. Just type in http://hollyhillsprimwares.blogspot.com/ and some see what we are offering. Hope you're having a great evening!
Until next time...
GOOD FRIENDS...
Good morning Prim Pals! Well, the weekend has come and gone and I'm finally back to reality. The antique show was so much fun and we have SOOOO many new, wonderful creations in the shop. Our Funky Tennessee Artist outdid herself and LOADED the shop with the best prim folk art you can imagine. I will be offering lots on our selling blog either tonight or tomorrow.
Peggy (Wren In The Willow) and Connie (The Funky Tennessee Artist) contributed so much to the shop for the show, but also as great friends.
All of the Liberty dolls were the first to go. Everyone loved them!
We had a tent out front filled with wooden items made by Wren In The Willow.
All sides of the streets were lined with antique vendors with great oldies. After the show was over, Connie and I headed to the Little House and some exploring in Northern Michigan (which I'll share a little later). It was so great to catch up and spend time with my dearest friend.
This morning our little baby duck friends came right up to the patio. I'm hoping to be able to hand-feed them before they are grown.
The baby geese are growing and we are TRYING to keep them out of the yard. Poor guys want their share of corn though. It's off to the shop for me this morning to get things put back together and get our week going. My friend left this morning and it is always so very hard to say good-bye. She has been my rock, thank you my friend. I would also like to ask you for some prayers for our Gannon. A lot of you know him from the shop and he is going through a difficult time right now. I know God will hear you. We'll talk again soon and be watching for lots of new goodies on our selling blog.
Until next time...

MORE FOR THE SHOP...
We're getting ready! Another pile ready to go to the shop before Saturday.
These covered jars are my favorite, especially the big ones with the recipes stitched on the front.
Aren't these pantry boxes sweet? Love the bail handles.
We have BIG, hanging pantry towels with pockets filled with Sweet Annie.
And watermelon (made by Rachel)would be great for summer decor.
Today is another busy "day off". Dick is finishing a beautiful, mustard, primitive dry sink, then it's on to a make-do settle and chair. I think we are going to have a couple LATE nights. Hope to see you Saturday!
Until next time...

READY FOR THE SHOP...
Woo Hoo!!! The first batch is done and ready to go to the shop. We have so many new patriotic decorating goodies coming this week. You won't believe the Uncle Sams and Liberties coming from Tennessee! We'll also be having a BIG wooden Liberty made by Wren In The Willow that would be perfect on a porch.
Dick is building like crazy! A beautiful mustard drysink and big blanket crane shelf will be in the shop by Saturday.
This is an exciting week for Holly Hills Primitives. We always look forward to the Downtown Holly Antique Show (Saturday, June 9, 10 a.m.) and this year it will be even more exciting. Our very own Funky Tennessee Artist has been texting pictures to me of her creations and they are all so primitive and OUTSTANDING! It will be so much fun to have her in the shop all day Saturday. Bob and Peggy from Wren In The Willow will also be adding some of their wooden creations. Should be a festive, fun day in our little village. Hope you can make it!!
Until next time...

DRESSING THE SHOP FOR SUMMER...
Welcome June and summer decorating! We've been working like crazy at the shop getting everything moved and ready for the downtown Holly antique show next Saturday. New things are arriving daily and a BIG load will be coming in on Friday night with our Funky Tennessee Artist. Hope some of you are able to come in and meet her on Saturday and pick out one of her special creations.
This cute little old red table and chairs is adorable. I love the curved back on the chairs.
Just got this darling little hanging corner cupboard too. It has shelves inside and screen in the door.
Of course what would summer be without Uncle Sam?
Great display all year round are these chair-back shelves. We have one in black and one in mustard.
Oh my gosh! As soon as I saw this, I knew it had to come to the shop. It is an OLD handmade barn. Can't you just see a sheep collection in and around it?
This table and four chairs were handmade in Texas. They are SOLID! The chair backs have stars carved in them.
Who doesn't love old blue? This little table is prim as can be. We have two thumb back chairs with covers that look great with it.
We moved our "garden" area in front of our village. Lots of great summer goodies to choose from.
This little black cupboard just arrived with shelves and a screen door. You just won't believe what all will be here during the week and by Saturday! Liberties, bottle dolls, old sock dolls, spindle dolls, canisters, make-do chairs, stitcheries... We're looking forward to a day of old-fashioned fun in our little village of Holly. Mark your calendars and come see us!
Until next time...
