AHHH - SPRING...

I hope I can safely say that maybe spring is finally arriving in Michigan. I'll sure take it - even though it is late coming. Dick brought me home this beautiful bouquet of lilacs Saturday, one of my very favorites. The sweet aroma is intoxicating!
The weather was fantastic yesterday - upper 80's!! We put the top down on the bug and had a good ride. We stopped to visit Dad in the nursing home, took him outside for some fresh air and then went to visit Dick's sister Judy and her husband Jerry. We all piled in and went for an ice cream. We stopped at the armed service memorial in Swartz Creek and the news station pulled up. They interviewed Dick and he was on T.V. last night. We came home and made bar-b-que chicken, a big salad and pea pods. The best part was the rhubarb pie that Mom made while we were gone! YUMMY!!!
Today we are going to get some things put together for the shop. We're working on a new potting bench, some BIG crow garden stakes, a fun planter box and more, more, more... Hope to have it all in the shop by the end of the week. Tomorrow I hope to spend the day sewing and finishing up some fun things in that area too.
Well friends, who's it going to be on Dancing With The Stars and American Idol this week??? I'm hoping for Chelsea and Mark on Dancing and Lauren on Idol. Got any favorites?
Tonight we are going to watch our Gannon in his middle school talent show. Can't wait! His Aunt Ashley gave him some pointers and he is very serious about this whole thing. Hope to have some pictures tomorrow.
It rained all morning, but now the sun is out and shining bright. Time to get outside and get to work on our projects. Hope you all have a wonderful, creative day!!!
Until next time...

IT'S A KEEPER...

Good evening prim pals. Just had to pop in and show you one of my latest finds that I'M KEEPING FOR ME!!! Carol brought in this old, canvas bucket and I put it out in the shop for one day - then I couldn't stand it any longer and brought it home. I'm not quite sure where it will end up, but I just love it. Seems like all the good stuff stays at the shop, but once in awhile I just have to have a goodie or two.
I spent the day at the shop painting furniture, putting garden goodies together and stitching - it was a LONG day of rain, rain, rain. I'm starting to wonder if nice, spring weather is ever going to get to Michigan. The Wednesday car cruise was cancelled, so at least the day didn't last until 8 p.m.
Well friends, hope the sun is shining wherever you may be!
Until next time...

FUN SUNDAY...

What a fun day! Dick and I went up north to the "little house" and friend Debbie and I took off Sunday morning for Houghton Lake (Michigan). I went to this shop earlier in the winter, but it was fun to go back with a girlfriend.

Things are just starting to pop outside the shop. The weather still hasn't turned to summer, especially up north, but I'm sure there will be lots of goodies outside when it does.

Shopkeeper Sandy is as sweet as she can be.

There are little booths all throughout the back of the shop and mostly prims!

This old buggy seat would be so cute on a front porch!

There were some great birdhouses all throughout the shop.

I tried to get a little taste of what is for sale throughout the building.

This potting bench was adorable!

Crow pie anyone?

As you can see, there is a great mix.

I was crazy about the birdfeeders made out of the old pans.

Another full booth!

This gal had so many smalls done up. Everything from clothespin dolls, cats, owls, tiny dolls, stars and more.

There were some beautiful wool pieces done in old windows and frames.

You can see how full it is! If you are ever in northern Michigan, be sure to stop by and visit Sandy and see this cute shop.

Today I went on a school field trip with our Abbey to the Longway Planatarium in Flint. It was really fun to see how interested two rooms of third graders were - and how well behaved! I was so glad I was able to go on my day off. She came home with me after it was over and we are going to just hang out until after dinner.

Well friends, time to get busy on some of my own things for the shop. Have a great evening!

Until next time...

FULL SHOP, BIRTHDAYS AND WEDDINGS...

Whew! I thought I was going to go into withdrawal with Blogger down for a couple of days! I was so excited to see it working again when I closed the shop. This has been a pretty eventful week around town and I just had so much I wanted to share. Aren't our tulips so pretty out in front of the shop? I'm going to check with the Village to see if they will let me plant sunflowers out here. I can just see it for fall!

I've got SOOOOOO much new stuff in, the store is bulging at the seams. Isn't this wire plant rack adorable?

I got two of the coolest "oil" cans from Italy. I've never seen anything like them before and they would be perfect to plant flowers in.

Also, just the best are these leather hat box suitcases. My personal favorite is the black one - of course!

Speaking of Italy, I got the most unusual set of twin beds in that did come from Italy. They are metal and the headboards come to about my eyes. They can also hook together to make a king size bed. I've never seen anything like them - wish I had room!

The footboards come past my waist and curve at both ends. What an exquisite piece this would be in a big room. You'll have to come see what else is new. We closed our booth in Howell and hauled everything back to the shop on Tuesday - what a job - and now it's all in one spot!

Happy 70th Birthday Larry! One of Zanie Janie's "regulars" had a birthday yesterday and his dear wife, Louise, brought in lunch and a birthday cake. What a nice treat!

As you can see, the rest of the "gang" loved it too. But then...

today was the icing on the cake! Last summer I introduced my friend Barb (that owns Blackberry Bakery) to Dennis (that owns the ice cream shop) and guess what happened today? They got married right in the street on Battle Alley.

I can't begin to tell you how much fun it was! People stopped all over the streets to watch and smile.

AWWWW! Yup, they said their "I do's" and Barb snuck an early kiss before the minister was done. This is the real thing!

Mr. and Mrs. are walking back to the shop to sign the papers.

Dick and I were honored to witness their vows and it was all so festive. We popped the champagne right in front of the shop and Dick said a toast to our dear friends. Hope Barb and Dennis have a long, wonderful, magical life together - they both deserve it!

So that about wraps up the goings-on in our little town this week. Keep in mind that I am putting all furniture at 20% off the regular price for the weekend, so come on in for some savings. I've GOT to make room in the shop for lots more coming in, so I'm a dealin'! Hope to see you Saturday!

Have a great weekend my friends.

Until next time...

MOTHER'S DAY FUN...

Good morning, hope you all had the best Mother's Day ever! Yesterday morning my hubby cooked a wonderful brunch for Mom, me and my kids. It was so nice to spend some time together. It is always so amazing to see Chad and Ashley all grown up with homes and families of their own. I don't know what I'd do without them.

Then there's Abbey and Lucy. What bright stars they are to all of us!

And we are so lucky to still have four generations to celebrate. Mom so enjoys having her grandchildren and great-grandchildren come visit. (I know I'll be the same way, oh! I already am.)

After Ashley's family went home, Chad stuck around and helped Dick set up our little tent for some shade. It was fun watching them get all the pieces in order.

Later in the afternoon our Amanda stopped over to visit and brought the cutest cards for me from them and the kids. I feel so blessed to have such a wonderful family.

Ta-Dah! I took this one this morning, but by afternoon it will be in the full sun. Now it's time to get started on my new gardens. Friends Carol and Faye are both spliting off some wonderful plants for me and I've got some big ideas of what I want to do.

Well friends, time to get to work. I'm running over to Carol's to load up new goodies for the shop. LOTS to get done this week and more rearranging to do to fit in all of the new furniture. Hope you all have a wonderful, sunny week!

Until next time...

THE MORNING AFTER...

Whew! What a fun evening we had last night. At 5 p.m. the ladies were lined up for a whole block waiting to get their free shopping bags and coupons. The disc jockey had the tunes going and the stage was ready for Jill Jack at the other end of the street. Each shop had pink balloons blowing in the breeze and we were all ready! Gertrude the Garden Girl was up front and ready to meet our customers. She got a little dirty working in the garden, her socks were a little stained, but she was happy to be part of the festivities.

Poor Gertrude, she had been outside in her garden for so long that a bird made a nest right on the brim of her old hat. She's a big girl, about 4' tall!

Thank goodness for Carol! She came early and helped get the goodies set up and brought the most beautiful bouquet from her garden. We had matching aprons for the festivities - but got too busy to take a picture!

Before the party began, a few new goodies snuck into the shop. My favorite is this old board with the stitchery and old box attached.

This sweet little cupboard is also a cutie.

Do any of you grandmas need a rocker for your little ones? This one says, "Dear God, It's me again...".

Another sweet little chair. These would be perfect for your favorite prim dolly.

Aren't these beeskeeps cute as can be? We have LOTS of garden goodies in stock.

Early in the afternoon the stage went up and shopkeepers were scurrying to get everything ready. I had good intentions of taking pictures of everything, but... Oh well, maybe at the fall Ladies Nite Out.

I'd like to thank the customers that came to visit and hope they enjoy the treasures they found in the shop. Hope to see you again soon.

I also hope that you all enjoy a very special Mother's Day with your beautiful children and grandchildren. I'm so looking forward to a day off with my favorite people!

Until next time...

LADIES NITE OUT...

Good evening prim friends! Just wanted to stop in and remind you that tomorrow evening, May 6th from 5-9 P.M. is downtown Holly's Ladies Nite Out! If you're near our area, it is well worth inviting some friends and coming to town. The twinkle lights will be twinkling, the shops are all gussied up, the treats will be out, the stage will be going up tomorrow and fun will be had by all! Be one of the first 300 and receive a shopping bag filled with some extra goodies. Be sure to come visit me at Holly Hills Primitives and see what our specials are and sign up for our door prize. Hope to you see tomorrow!
By the way, the above "blurry" picture is taken of Holly around the 30's. The shop to the far right with the awning is now Holly Hills Primitives and the shop on the corner is Zanie Janie's Simply Coffee.
Have a great Friday!
Until next time...
