HOME SWEET HOME...

The time is finally here to share our new home with you. There's a few things that still need tweeking and we have more to sort and move, but it is starting to feel like "home sweet home". I took a lot of these pictures without a flash, but I hope you can at least get the idea. SOOOO, grab a cup of coffee and get ready for a picture laden post. Here we go! Our kitchen is my favorite room. I used old cupboards - except for the sink base - and I just love it! It's a little hard getting used to no upper cupboards, but I think I'm going to like it.
Top of our old beadboard cupboard.
Old mustard beadboard cupboard where I keep most of my dishes. The bottom of this cupboard has a bin that I just love.
Sink cupboard and black stove. Darn, you can't see the cutting boards!
Candy canes and M&M's on the Hoosier.
This old Hoosier was in my husband's family for years and years. I feel so lucky that we now have it in our kitchen.

Too dark! My island is old mustard with a pull-out cutting board. Noodle board on top with small sho-fly.
I painted chalkboard on the back of the island and decided to write favorite Christmas goodies.
One of my favorite signs - because it's true!
Not finished with this area yet, but you get the idea. Just hooked up the wood stove about a week ago. Needs lots more tweeking!

Oh yes, I'll have to retake a lot of these. This has Dick's leather recliner - can't do without that! My old bonnet chest is between the two chairs.
Old chairback shelf and skinny tree.

Looking back to the dining and kitchen areas.
Love this old mustard blanket chest - makes a great coffee table!
I should have taken the blanket off the couch, but it's there for my Rosie dog to lay on. Better picture of the chair back and tree. Sorry about the cord, we haven't figured out what to do about the cable cord yet.
Another view of the woodstove.
Our cozy little dining area. The table belonged to my husband's grandmother.
Top of pie safe in the dining area. Had to bring the old prim sled home from the shop - sometimes I just can't help it!
My favorite Christmas decoration is this antique tree stand that I use for a candle holder.
I had this chandelier for over a year - it finally found a home.
A few snowmen on top of my chimney cupboard.
Old socks and skates on the front of the chimney cupboard.
Old prim chimney cupboard - I also had to bring that home from the shop!
Skinny snowman tree this year. Filled with muslin icicles and handmade snowmen. Very simple.
One funny little snowman peeking out from the branches.
Old chalkboard and two snowman dolls.
Sitting and computer area. This is another area that needs some tweeking. I'm planning on putting an antique fireplace mantle in this area - can't wait.
Where I work on my blogs (for now). (Until I get my fireplace!)

The wall you see when you walk into our bedroom.
And the stockings were hung...
The other side of the bedroom. I've had this old butler's wardrobe for years and years.
This old bed was "up north" at my husband's family cottage and it had belonged to his grandparents. Fits just right. Don't know if you can tell that the curtains were made from old feedsacks???
My favorite old Santa is waiting for his big day on the old shutter.
Well girls, I'll have to retake some of the pictures in the daylight (or use the flash), but at least you get the idea. For you new visitors, we just moved from our old 1869 home to the "walk-out" of my folk's home since my dad has been in a nursing home. We redid the whole thing and still have a few things to finish up, but I honestly like it a lot better than I thought I was going to. One thing I have learned, family is more important than anything in the world. I'm so happy we were able to do this for my mom and talk about simple! Looking forward to getting everything finished up and enjoying the holidays.
Hope you enjoyed your visit - sorry about some of the pictures!
Until next time...
