WHAT A WEEK...

Before I get into what's been going on, I wanted to tell you what a great morning I had today. The shop was torn up and in walked Janet from Olde Crow Primitives. She was on her way to judging a horse show in Michigan and had come from Ontario, Canada. We met about a year ago and it was so great to be able to have a few minutes to set and visit. We had some of Zanie Janie's great coffee and we were able to catch up a bit. She is coming back next month and I hope we get a little more time. We did a little brainstorming and wondered if anyone would be interested in coming to Michigan for some kind of blog gathering??? We could either do something for fall or the beginning of November when all the Christmas goodies are out in the shops. Please let me know if you might have an interest.
Yup, this has been one heck of a week. THANK GOODNESS FOR CAROL!!! I don't know what I'd do without her. She has been at the shop for the last two days and we have moved furniture from one end of the shop to the other, along with adding in some great new (antique) pieces. We have packed up lots of things that are going bye-bye and unpacked lots of the new merchandise that finally arrived, including our new line of 1803 candles (and they are yummy). Today we put out lots of fall and got the shop back in some kind of order!
I think I've mentioned that Holly Hills Primitives is changing back to it's original roots. Primitives, primitives, primitives! There's still so much to do (and so little time). So many pieces of primitive antiques are arriving weekly right now that rearranging is just crazy! We are going to Columbus to the markets in a couple weeks and hope to have the van loaded to the brim.
Mark you calendars for August 27th and come on in for our Fall Open House. You won't believe the changes we are going to finish making! If you like primitives - we'll have them here for you!
Well girls, time to hit the hay and rest these weary bones, but we'll talk again soon.
Until next time...

  1. Yes, Yes, Yes...I think my mom and I (and of course Darbee Rae) would love a girls trip to Michigan for a blog gathering, but not quite sure we could make it this year. Sounds like soo much fun! Sounds like you are doing a lot in your shop! Can't wait to see pics. Have a wonderful weekend.

  2. Wish I could come up to Michigan for a blog get together, but I have 2 big shows...one in October and one in November.
I hung my big primitive angel that I purchased from you on the quilt in my dining room...and she looks great there!
    Have a great weekend.

  4. Hi Dawn...oh if I can get there I will be one in the group!
I may have to bring my husband along but you have met him and know he's a fine prim shopper (or he can find something else to do while we visit!) But hopefully it will work out.

Sounds like you are having way much fun with these changes.
I want to go to Columbus but have to see how things go.

  6. Hi Dawn.
It was great seeing you again. I really enjoyed our visit. Your shop looked great. You have such wonderful things in stock. What a weekend, it was 93 degrees both days of judging in Benton Harbor, so hot! I arrived home last night at 11:00 p.m.
Count me in for a gathering.

  7. Hi Dawn: You can count me in for a blog gathering. I am a friend of Janet's and I also love primitive things. I am heading for Benton Harbor on August 17 and hopefully I can stop in for a visit to your shop. From what I can see in the picture, it looks lovely.
