WOW! What a night, but fun! Gannon and Ellie were spending the night while their parents had a night out and then Gan wanted Abbey to come over to go fishing with him. (Love the picture of both of them fishing.) Well, when it was time for Abbey to go home, he wanted her to spend the night too. I felt like I spent the night in musical beds. It started out with me and both girls in our bed and Dick and Gan in another. I went from our bed to laying down with Gan, then Ellie came and crawled in, then I moved her back back to our bed, there wasn't enough room so I went to the couch. At about 3 or 4 a.m., Abbey came out and laid with me on the couch, then Ellie was nervous so I went back to my bed. But, I wouldn't trade any of it for the world - just glad that all seven of them weren't here at the same time!
Ellie LOVES Peter Pan, so she thought it was really cool to watch "Hook" on the portable DVD player.
Mom came down this morning for awhile and the kids all look like little ragamuffins!
When Ashley came to pick up Abbey, Ellie was thrilled to see Lucy. She loves babies and wanted to set with her in the rocking chair for a little while.
THEN - after all the kids were gone, we went to pick up my dad at the nursing home. He has had a TERRIBLE week, trying to get out the doors and come home. We took him for a long ride, he wanted to see the shop, and then we all went out to dinner. It did him so much good to get out of there for awhile, but it was heartbreaking to take him back. When we were leaving, he got all choked up and had tears in his eyes. I so wish I could wave a magic wand and make everything better again - I just want my old dad back. I am thankful that we have these times together though and he had so much fun.
So I think I'm going to put on my jammies and get a pillow and blankie and hit the couch for awhile. It's been a LONG day!
Hope you spent your Sunday with the ones you love!
Until next time...

  1. I am laughing so hard at the musical beds!! I've been there a few times. How cute!

I also got choked up when I read about your dad. My mom had Alzheimer's and she was always escaping from the Adult Foster Care. I hated leaving her there also. But I knew she was safe and well cared for.

I beat you to the jammies and the couch!! lol I stayed up too late last night playing computer games so I'm pooped! So.. enjoy yourself!

  2. Dawn,
What precious pics & such a cute story ~ did you get any sleep?? So sad to have to take your dad back but you know he's safe and well cared for. I'm relaxing in my jammies, too. We were outside most of the day working in the yard.

  3. Dawn, that sounds like an exhausting night! I bet you loved it, though. I am so sorry your Dad is having a hard time right now. He is SO lucky you are so close by and can take him for great visits, and you are SO lucky that he is still with you, even though it is not the same. I would give anything to have my Mom still with us. Just enjoy every moment you can with him and know you are doing everything you can. Take care, C

  4. Hi Dawn-sounds like a very fun evening and a truly blessed day. I so enjoyed talking with you, it's very nice to talk to an experienced shop owner...I am still new at this. Thanks for all of your help. Looking forward to hearing from you.

  5. Dawn, we can see where you get your smile from, your Dad, he looks so happy!!

  6. Oh what wonderful pics :) LOL@ musical beds... what FUN memories!
I'm sorry about your dad, but like the others said, he's is safe and being taken care of...I can only imagine how hard it is to leave him there tho. I'm glad you are able to spend time together....
    Have a wonderful week!

  7. hi dawn....looks like you had a wonderful weekend with the doesnt get any better then have been in my thoughts lately with your dad...prayers are being said that he finds peace in his heart....i have been redoing the shop and this week i will be there on tuesday,...come on over for a visit...

  8. You are such a good grandma and daughter! Your family is lucky to have you! Musical beds... hmmm... sounds exhausting! lol!!

  9. Hi Dawn...had the same thing going on Friday night. Had three of our daughters sons - ages - 4-6-7 yrs. We have two double beds and they had a hard time deciding if they wanted to sleep with Nana or Pop-Pop..the youngest, Crew, kept saying it is a hard decision!! Finally - we did get them all settled (our fault -fed them too much junk!) Tony and I and Crew in one bed and Breck and Cullen in the other...whew!! Then we all fell asleep!! Goodnight!!!

  10. I loved reading your ost today Dawn...well, I always do!
There's nothing more warming than having all the grand children at once....tiring but so rewarding.

Beautiful pictues of your family Dawn....I love the one of Ellie, I thought she had fallen asleep. Too cute.
