FIRST DAY OF THE SHOW...
WOW! What a day! We are doing the Weekend In The Country show in Davisburg, MI and it was one crazy morning! The cars were backed up from Springfield-Oaks (4-H Fairgrounds) all the way through downtown Davisburg before it opened. It was such a beautiful day, perfect for attending such a big show. There are over 150 vendors, music, food, baked goods, antiques...
We brought in some cornstalks to put with the scarecrow!
Tomorrow there will be several "show only" specials in our booth, including this tilt-top table...
...and make-do chairs.
We have a little "cubby hole" to set in, surrounded by stitcheries and smalls. Wouldn't you just know that my camera battery died right when I was trying to take pictures of our booth??? It will be back on the charger tonight and ready for more pictures around the grounds tomorrow. One booth has the most beautiful mum plants (big) for $6 each or 3 for $15!! I'm hoping to have some time to really go through some of the other vendor's areas tomorrow before the show starts. If you're looking for something to do on this beautiful fall weekend, come on out and say "hello". The show runs from 10-5 tomorrow.
Now it's time for some jammies and the couch! Until next time...

WEEKEND IN THE COUNTRY...
Oh my goodness, this is the weekend to come to Springfield-Oaks at 12451 Andersonville Rd., Davisburg, MI to WEEKEND IN THE COUNTRY! There will be 150+ booths, free DIY demonstrations, great food, music, antiques, appraisals and more, more, more! Do you watch HGTV? Have you seen "Cash and Cari"? She will be there with her vintage yellow truck. Holly Hills Primitives is SOOO excited to be a part of this great event! Come see us in the Barn House. Remember, the shop will be open and staffed for the weekend also.
This was a great day at Holly Hills Primitives. We had lots of new customers and a few old ones too. Our fall rug hooking class started and we had two new members join us today (Brenda and Sue) along with our wonderful instructor - Sue.
Our little village just keeps getting better and better. We had FIVE downtown ribbon cuttings, along with new businesses at the north end of town. The first is the new Holly Emporium.
We moved next door to the Fenton Winery - they have lots of free wine tasting!
Our friend Janet opened the Holly Spirit Shop and is taking off like a rocket.
Nicole moved into a larger shop with Morgan's Boutique. This is a wonderful resale shop that started out with children's clothing and is now adding women's ware.
AND Emily and Ray are back with Pigeon In The Parlour. Next time you're in Holly, be sure to check out these great shops.
My hubby came to take me to a birthday lunch. Friend Missy watched the shop for a little bit, so we could actually go to the Bittersweet Cafe and get away for a few minutes. All in all, it was a great day. We're looking forward to another one tomorrow!
Until next time...

WILD DAY IN QUINCY...
Oh boy! What a day we had yesterday! It started out chilly with a little sunshine peeking out while we were all setting up our booths at The Old Granary in Quincy, MI. This is the third year we were able to do the Gathering On The Lawn with Joann at her beautiful shop.
After we got our booth set up, I got to take a look around at the other vendor's things and go through Joann's shop. (Which, by the way, is wonderful!)
We were so lucky to be under the big tent with two other primitive booths. We had one whole end, and it worked out so well.
But then, the rains came and came and came! Don't know if you can see the water pouring off the roof of the tent. The temps didn't get above 47 and we were all freezing. It was amazing though! Good old prim shoppers braved the storms and still came out - along with the thunder.
If that wasn't enough, the hale came crashing down THREE different times. Poor Joann had to sweep her brick walkways, because it was so thick! Even with the bad weather, we still had a great time, sold some goodies, got orders for more furniture, and spent the day before shopping and found a wonderful surprise that will be at the shop soon! Thank you Joann for another great opportunity. We always love to come to this event - rain or shine - and celebrate the beginnings of fall.
Until next time...

THE PERFECT "FALL" DAY...
Good evening! What a beautiful day we've had here in Michigan today. The temps were a little cooler, the sky was an amazing clear blue, and our village was hopping. We had our next September Super Saturday at the shop, live music, treats and some new furniture.
We have had several requests for make-do chairs and we're finally getting them in. The first one is a grubby bittersweet color with a feedsack upholstered back.
Next is the one I want to bring home! It is cobblestone with a plain old feedsack back. Love them both though and can't wait to get more.
We also have a make-do settle in stock. Wouldn't it be cute next to a fireplace this fall?
This buttermilk cupboard is prim as can be.
Who doesn't love a tilt-top table? This doubles as a bench...
...or a table. Just the perfect size.
This grubby red tavern table is fantastic. It has a "box" at the bottom that is held with leather hinges. It opens to store linens or whatever else you might have in mind.
Check out this new shelf and crock bench. It almost looks like it could be a buttery!
The shelf has a small little cupboard with a "hole" for a handle, pegs across the top with two shelf areas.
The crock bench could hold quite a collection. I love the spoon holder on the top shelf!
We are SOOO lucky to have our own Gary Musgrave play live music out front on these September Super Saturdays. He is outstanding! Come give a listen and maybe you'll want to book him for your own special event!
We always try to talk his wife, Debbie, into doing at least one song with him!
So many people bought coffee (and other yummy drinks) from Zanie Janie and came to set outside to enjoy the music. We saw people setting on benches all around the town having a ball!
We can't wait until next Saturday to be at The Old Granary for the Gathering On The Lawn in Quincy, Michigan. Come on down and have some fun with Holly Hills Primitives.
Until next time...

ANOTHER GREAT EVENT...
Good morning prim friends! First of all, I'd like to thank all of the old and new customers that made The Place We Call Home Gathering a huge success. Peggy and I can't wait to start planning for next year.
Saturday morning the doors opened again and we were so lucky to have music by Dan Hays. Lots of his cd's were sold, people sang and it was wonderful.
When we got there on Sunday, Bob and Peggy's friend Laura was our entertainment. She did a great job and we all had so much fun.
Can you tell we were all getting a little slap-happy? Bob was even dancing with the snowman!
Yesterday we loaded up our remaining wares and returned to the shop to do a total redo! You'll have to stop in and see our new goodies - including LOTS of 1803 candles.
Now, it's time to mark your calendars again. This time for Saturday, September 22 at 10 a.m. Have you ever been to the Old Granary in Quincy, Michigan? If not, you're really missing out. We are so thrilled to be doing Joann's Gathering On The Lawn again this year. We will be taking handmades, some of our handcrafted furniture and some antiques. This is another fantastic PRIMITIVE event you won't want to miss. Hope you take a nice fall drive and come see us there. Now it's time to get sewing again so we're ready!
Until next time...

PREVIEW NIGHT...
Whew! After four LONG days of decorating, our preview night of The Place We Call Home Gathering was a huge success. Peggy and I got to see a lot of old and new customers, listen to great music by Gary Musgrave, and thoroughly enjoy a great evening.
I'd like to invite you to come on in!
You're welcome to listen to Gary play and sing some fantastic music while you wait.
Are you looking for fall goodies! As you can see, there is plenty to choose from!
The old owl flew right out tonight and is being replaced with a witch tomorrow morning.
Peggy and Bob make the most beautiful "gourds"! There are witches, ghosts and pumpkins that all light.
This cupboard is LOADED with fall decor.
Peggy and Theresa (Peggy's mom) are sporting the headbands that all of us wore tonight.
Gina was a real trooper the first day of decorating.
Come on in to the "Christmas Room". There are beautiful pieces of handcrafted furniture, Santas, snowmen and lots more.
The red lanterns are so pretty - especially after the sun went down.
There are SOOOOO many trees to choose from. The "bent" trees are almost 13 feet tall!
An honored guest tonight was Teresa Kogut with her fantastic artwork. She will be here tomorrow from 10-1 to do more signings.
Now lets step into the bedroom. There are wonderful Family Heirloom Weavers textiles all throughout the house.
The Santas are so unusual and the stacking boxes really make a statement.
More trees dress the bedroom.
Alyson and Nicole "manned" the cash registers and wrapping. They both worked so hard all evening. Thanks girls!
And by the end of the evening, we finally talked Debbie into singing with her husband!
Early this afternoon, I had the pleasure of spending a little time with Janet from Old Crow Primitives. Wish we could have had the whole day! She is just a delight and I hope she gets a chance to stop back on Sunday.
So, there you have it my friends. Time to crawl (literally) into bed and be ready to greet you all by 10 a.m.
Until next time...
